To fix or not to fix

This year we have seen a steady rise in the official cash rate, a rise of 0.25% in May and August was followed by a further 0.25% rise in November. In total we have experienced an upward shift of 1.25% for the calendar year to November. Locking in to a fixed-rate home loan, or at least splitting it between fixed and variable, is often a good way for borrowers to peg payments to manageable levels.
